JAMES LLOYD JOHNSON was born in 1944. He was educated at Kendall College of Art & Design, at The Art Institute Of Chicago, and also served in the United States Navy.
In 1971 he began a career as a commercial illustrator which spanned thirty years. His illustrations have won awards in many juried competitions including New York Art Directors Club, Art Directors Club Of Washington, Graphics Annual and Exhibit Print Annual Illustration Exhibit.
Since retirement in 2005 Jim has taken to painting on location in West Michigan and in Key West, Florida. In recent juried competition his work was selected for MICHIGAN WATER COLOR SOCIETY 59th Annual Exhibit, MICHIGAN WATER COLOR SOCIETY 61st Annual Exhibit, MUSKEGON 77th Regional Exhibit, MUSKEGON 78th Regional Exhibit, FESTIVAL 2006 Regional Exhibit, FESTIVAL 2007 Regional Exhibit, FESTIVAL 2008 Regional Exhibit/County Of Kent Purchase Award and the 22ND ANNUAL WEST MICHIGAN REGIONAL COMPETITION.
Jim teaches watercolor workshops and exhibits his work in West Michigan and Key West.
